Cox’s Lane was a stop motion film I created for a masters project. The brief was to create a film using only still images. I wrote a script on my commute home and armed with a camera I went down to the mainstreet in the town at 5am to shoot.
I realised too late that I needed a stunt driver to pretend to run me down, and had to reshoot another time, which because I didn’t understand how to use the camera gives the massive colour shift in the middle of the film.
It’s the first narrative film I ever made and I’m really proud of how it turned out. It gave me a taste of narrative fiction and the structure is something I’ve used in all the fiction films I’ve worked on.
